1. Check the safety sensors
The most common reason a door will not close is the two little sensors near the floor on each side. If they are out of line or blocked, the door thinks something is in the way and rolls back up.
- Look for a steady light on both sensors. A blinking light means they are misaligned.
- Wipe the lenses clean — cobwebs, dust, and frost fool them.
- Gently nudge one back into line until both lights hold steady.

2. Clear the tracks
A stone, a chunk of ice, or a bent spot in the track can stop the door. Look along both tracks for anything in the path. Do not bang a bent track back into shape — that is a job for a tech.
3. Check for a stuck remote or wall button
Sometimes a jammed button keeps sending a signal that blocks the close. Check that no remote is wedged in a car seat or drawer with the button held down.
4. Look at the close-limit setting
If the door closes then pops back open, the opener’s close-limit may be set wrong, making it think it hit the floor early. This adjustment is on the motor unit, but if you are not sure, leave it to us.
When to call a pro
If the sensors are clean and aligned, the tracks are clear, and the door still will not close, something mechanical is likely off — a worn cable, a tired spring, or an opener fault.
